There has been a wrongful death lawsuit filed against a nursing home in Joliet. In the lawsuit, various facets of negligence are claimed, and this negligence is alleged to have caused the death of a nursing home resident, Geraldine Paraday.
The lawsuit is against Presence Villa Franciscan and Presence Life Connections, and was filed in the Circuit Court Of Cook County. Among those health problems mentioned is the development of pressure ulcers, which is also referred to as pressure sores.
An excerpt from the April 22, 2016 Joliet Patch article titled “Nursing Home’s Negligence Caused Death of Resident: Lawsuit“:
The complaint was filed April 15 against Presence Villa Franciscan and Presence Life Connections, according to the Cook County Record, and alleges that between Feb. 2, 2012 and Sept. 5, 2013, resident Geraldine Paraday “developed pressure sores to her lower extremity, severe dehydration and infection, which contributed to her death on Sept. 9, 2013.”
Sousan Soulian, the independent administrator of Paraday’s estate, said in the lawsuit that Presence Villa and Presence Life failed to “provide adequate assistance, supervision and hydration,” according to the report.
The lawsuit is also discussed in the Cook County Record article of April 21, 2016, titled “Joliet facility alleged to have provided negligent care.”
