There has been a wrongful death lawsuit filed against an Illinois nursing home regarding the alleged treatment received by a nursing home resident. The lawsuit was filed in the Circuit Court of Cook County against Symphony of Crestwood by Robert Hudson on behalf of his late wife, Catherine Hudson.
Various deficiencies of care are alleged in the lawsuit, as are various injuries Catherine Hudson sustained.
An excerpt from the April 21, 2015 Oak Forest Patch article titled “Family Files Wrongful Death Suit Against Crestwood Nursing Home“:
Robert Hudson, of Chicago, filed a wrongful death suit on behalf of his late wife, Catherine Hudson on Friday afternoon in the Circuit Court of Cook County. The suit was filed against Symphony of Crestwood, a nursing home located at 14255 South Cicero Avenue in Crestwood, Ill. The suit alleged that Symphony was responsible for Catherine’s development of pressure sores, a knee fracture, and the improper reinsertion of a gastrostomy tube that caused an infection and eventually led to her death.
“As a family, we decided to turn our anger into action,” added Robert. “We decided to file a lawsuit in hope of exposing the nursing home to bring this terrible mishap to the public’s attention.”
The Daily Southtown (Chicago Tribune) article of April 21, 2015, titled “Crestwood nursing home sued over woman’s death” also discusses the lawsuit and its allegations regarding nursing home neglect. An excerpt:
Hudson had been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and required assistance with daily activities, and the staff at the nursing home had developed a plan of care to address her needs, but that plan wasn’t adhered to by staff members, according to the lawsuit.
