Illinois Nursing Home Nurse Charged With Neglect In Fatal Incident

There was an incident in a Collinsville, Illinois nursing home in which a nursing home employee was charged with neglect.

The incident happened on June 30, 2017 at the Collinsville Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.  The incident involved a nursing home nurse allegedly failing to provide CPR to a nursing home resident that had suffered a heart attack.  The resident, identified as Eunice Vancil, died following the incident.

A nursing home employee accused of not performing CPR on a resident allegedly saw that the resident had blue lips and was not breathing, according to an Illinois Department of Public Health report.

That employee, 41-year-old Christy McCall of Belleville, was charged March 28 with neglect in the death of the 81-year-old resident on June 30, 2017 at the Collinsville Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.

Another excerpt, from the April 8 Alton Daily News article titled “Former Nursing Home Employee Faces Charges“:

An Illinois Department of Public Health Report says the resident was found with no pulse and purple lips and was unresponsive. McCall is alleged to have not entered the room of the patient despite being aware of the patient’s condition. Bail is set at $25,000.
