Types And Signs Of Nursing Home Neglect

As discussed throughout this site, there are many types of nursing home neglect and nursing home abuse.  Many people will consider filing a personal injury or wrongful death lawsuit against a nursing home or other similar type of long-term care facility for such mistreatment.  Due to the nature of such mistreatment, a personal injury lawyer should be consulted in order to properly assess the specific characteristics of the mistreatment and the resulting injuries and harm that has occurred.

A recent Illinois wrongful death lawsuit was discussed in the Madison Record article of April 18, 2016, titled “Estate claims facility provided negligent care, leading to patient’s death.”  The patient died in 2015 while at the Belleville facility.

An excerpt from the article concerning the alleged negligence:

The plaintiffs allege the decedent died as a result of the facility’s failure to provide ordinary care, failed to provide the necessary care and services to attain or maintain the patient’s highest well-being, failed to provide rehabilitative measures to meet her individual needs, failed to assist her so her abilities in daily living did not diminish, and failed to develop an up-to-date care plan for her based on her assessment, individual needs and goals, physician’s orders, and personal care and nursing needs.

A discussion of what “signs” may indicate nursing home neglect are seen on the “Nursing Home Neglect” page.
